We are proud to be the first luxury furniture retailer to achieve B Corp certification, joining a community of leaders who are driving a global movement of people using business as a force for good. By becoming B Corp certified, we reinforce our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on people and the planet. However, rather than seeing this certification as a final goal, we view it as a new step for Invisible Collection.
Two years ago, when we were shortlisted for the BWA Award – a prize for female-led companies sponsored by Madame Figaro – we did some soul-searching about the ethos of Invisible Collection and what we stand for. Our mission is to support workshops, emerging talents, and stars of interior design; to set new, positive standards for our industry; and to care about the well-being of our teams by creating a working environment that attracts and retains talent.
Ultimately, we believe that we need to set radical goals that bring about social and environmental change, rather than incremental ones.
We embarked on the B Corp path to align our words and actions: we do what we say. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to provide evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices by answering hundreds of questions about governance, workers, communities, and impact on the environment. Moreover, to complete the certification, applicants have to legally embed their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles.
We are most proud and delighted to announce our certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp), joining a growing number of companies that are reinventing the business by pursuing purpose and good practices in all operations.
In just six years, we’ve built a tight-knit community of likeminded people who believe that design is culture. By placing this belief at the heart of what we do, we strive to preserve savoir-faire, honor unique expertise, and empower all the fantastic artisans and designers who prove through their work that creative expression goes hand in hand with sustainable practices.
There can be no viable economic model on a dead planet or in a broken society. We are proud to lead the way and set an example, not just with our words, but with our actions. By rallying a growing community around these core ideas of sustainable design and responsible business practices, we hope to inspire others to follow in our footsteps.
