The Daiku Chair is designed by Victoria Magniant, who works hand in hand with French ateliers to translate noble materials, wood, glass, brass, into pieces that read as much like sculpture as furniture. She draws on the pared-back forms of Isamu Noguchi and Barbara Hepworth, choosing slowness and craft over speed.

In tinted ash here, with walnut as an alternative, the Daiku Chair links its seat and backrest with a matte aluminium frame, letting the solid wood elements read almost like brushstrokes against the metal’s flat plane. The stain is built up in translucent layers, like watercolour, so the grain stays visible even where the colour runs deepest.

This creation is crafted from solid wood, a natural material that naturally expands, contracts and cracks with temperature and humidity changes. Variations in grain, colour, and texture are inherent and natural. These natural changes are a sign of authenticity, and part of what makes each piece unique.
