The Mawu Chair by Laura Gonzalez is a sculptural ode to feminine strength and timeless elegance. Named after Mawu, the West African goddess of the moon and creation, the design channels a quiet power and serene grace—qualities reflected in its enveloping form and harmonious proportions. The chair exudes a tactile richness that invites touch and comfort. Its flared legs, crafted from golden oak with a satin finish, ground the piece with warmth and natural sophistication. With its organic lines and refined materials, the Mawu Chair strikes a perfect balance between tradition and modernity. Whether as a standalone statement or part of a curated ensemble, it brings a sense of calm authority and subtle glamour to any space—echoing the nurturing spirit of its namesake goddess.
Laura Gonzalez founded her Parisian agency at 24, while still a student at the Ecole nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-Malaquais. Since then, she’s been making a name for herself in the world of interior design delivering fantastic projects. Putting her motto into practice, “Live each project as a unique experience”, Laura was commissioned the 2021 Women Pavilion in Dubai, and has created some awe-inspiring interiors for luxury brands including Louboutin and Cartier. For the famed jeweler, she redesigned the historic 5th Avenue store in New York, and the “residence”, the private salon at the Paris Flagship in rue de la Paix, elevating the retail experience with her unmistakable style.
