Much of the studio’s output pays homage to Brazil’s mid-century ‘brutalist’ architects — Niemeyer, Lucio Costa, Burle Marx, Lina Bo Bardi — reworking their curves, concrete geometries and tropical modernism into limited-edition furniture. The result is a cosmopolitan, fashion-influenced sensibility that reads as much like homage as it does design.

The Puzzle armchair by Oitoemponto adds armrests to the collection’s 1980s television-set silhouette, its rosewood structure interlocking with black lacquer panels the way a screen’s geometric casing once did. Artur Miranda and Jacques Bec asked their craftsmen to elevate their art for this collection, and every joint here reads as a technical feat.

Pictured in Toyine Sellers’ Phinda Ré fabric, a camaïeu of blues, greys and pinks, the armchair can also be ordered in bespoke wood and lacquer finishes. It brings a rare sense of playfulness to Oitoemponto’s otherwise architectural language, treating comfort itself as another interlocking piece of the puzzle.
