In just over four years, Paris-based Pierre Augustin Rose has become an interior design powerhouse loved by the Fashion crowd. Their new collection of furniture is yet again an enticing display of that French je-ne-sais-quoi that we’ve all come to love.
The fifteen-piece offering is dashing, sophisticated and quite different from previous works. To begin with, some chairs sport a lovely full-grain leather intrecciato, something new in the brand’s vocabulary. The addition of this material has inspired a new iteration of the signature Polus Chair: the piece is entirely covered with hand-sewn leather using the saddle stitch technique. Then, there are a few stand-alone pieces, including the impressive Fumoir Armchair, a feat of technical prowess: the design is covered with small-sized squares of parchment painstakingly pieced together by skilled craftsmen over a period of 45 days.
The other unexpected highlight from the collection is a re-issue, a true first for Pierre Augustin Rose: the Cadillac Armchair is a striking piece designed in the fifties and revamped in a more contemporary iteration. A gorgeously plushy daybed for two, an elegant dining table and a selection of side-tables in natural wood and lacquer complete the collection.
Reaffirming their position as “makers of styles” rather than a design studio, the three minds behind Pierre Augustin Rose deliver a collection that strikes the perfect balance between functionality and restrained beauty.
