This piece treats wool the way a sculptor treats stone — building volume through texture instead of colour. Flat weave and cut pile are worked across the same field, so light catches the wool differently depending on where the pile rises and where it lies close to the base, giving the impression of drifting cloud cover across an otherwise quiet ground. Pierre Bénard, Augustin Deleuze and Nina Rose bring their shared instinct for pared-back form to the floor here, treating a rug as they would a piece of furniture — something with weight, shadow and dimension, not simply decoration underfoot.
