Galerie JAG
Born in Leuven and based in Los Angeles for two decades, Katrien van der Schueren works between the intimate and the monumental, drawing on wood, plaster, metal, stone and resin to give her sculpture an architectural weight tempered by a poetic, almost brutalist sensibility. This sculpted wall piece explores a buried, universal language of signs, gestures and traces that existed before words. Its surface is built from fragments that recall archaeological remains, as if uncovered on a dig, each carrying its own small narrative within the whole. Conceived as a contemporary cabinet of curiosities, a nod to the Wunderkammer of Renaissance Europe, it invites its owner to place personal objects and keepsakes within it, so that the work continues to evolve in the hands of whoever lives with it.

Background
As a gallerist, collector and interior designer, Jessica Barouch is a professional who can draw on her expertise in a variety of fields. Her quest to discover new talent is driven by a passion for decorative arts and design.
Signature Style
For ten years, Jessica Barouch has been exhibiting her latest inspirations in her gallery, mixing seamlessly influences, styles and artists. She is an instinctive collector able to unearth remarkable designs and make the most interesting, and creative encounters. Works by George Nakashima, Marcel Gascouin and Isamu Noguchi find their rightful place next to Floris Wubben, Frédéric Imbert and Ryosuke Yazaki. Jessica favors textured, primitive, expressive pieces with a natural palette. Alongside her gallery work, Jessica Barouch also undertakes interior design projects in which she fully deploys her many alchemistical talents. Whether she is choosing a layout, sourcing materials or selecting works, her watchwords are always simplicity, precision and attentiveness.
