Olivier Garcé and Clio Dimofski opened Garcé & Dimofski’s studio and gallery in a 19th-century Pombaline building in Lisbon. They bring a rigorous, architectural eye to furniture that never strays far from the earth it comes from — chestnut, walnut, pine and clay, shaped by hand with Portuguese craftsmen who have spent lifetimes mastering their materials.
The Mimi desk is shown here in black chestnut with a matte varnish, standing on glazed white ceramic legs, though it is equally at home in natural oak on glazed white or dark legs. As with the rest of the Mimi family, the solid wood top will move naturally with humidity and temperature, and a wood-veneer top is available for anyone who prefers a perfectly still, crack-free surface for daily writing.
