Since 1958, the Manufacture de Tapis de Bourgogne has worked from its ateliers in Moroges, at the heart of Burgundy, where hand-knotting and hand-tufting are practiced as living crafts rather than industrial processes. Recognised as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, the manufacture has lent its rare know-how to designers from Andrée Putman to Philippe Starck, weaving each rug thread by thread with the patience of a discipline passed down through generations of artisans.
Named for the American minimalist Sol LeWitt, whose serial geometries inspired its layered structure, the Lewitt Rug channels Garcé Dimofski’s grounding in natural, locally sourced materials — the same instinct that leads Olivier Garcé and Clio Dimofski, trained under Pierre Yovanovitch and Shigeru Ban, toward chestnut, pine and terracotta in their furniture. Hand-tufted in 100% wool at the Manufacture de Tapis de Bourgogne, this terracotta gradient stacks layer upon layer of colour into a softly random relief, its woven texture giving the design a warmth no flat print could achieve.
