At Garcé & Dimofski, design begins with material rather than form. Olivier Garcé and Clio Dimofski work almost exclusively with what the Mediterranean landscape and Portuguese artisans can offer: chestnut and walnut wood, hand-thrown ceramic, raw clay and terracotta, resulting in furniture with what the duo call a quiet strength that transcends trends — pieces built to feel inevitable rather than fashionable.
Mimi’s rounded silhouette rests on a triptych of ceramic legs, pictured here in a Criss Cross Red glaze, beneath a tabletop built from assembled solid chestnut planks. Because the wood is solid rather than veneered, each tabletop will move very slightly with the seasons, and the seams between planks can be left visible or finished flush for a seamless top, a choice that changes the whole read of the table.
