Two ceramic shells nest one above the other in the Siren Wall Sconce, each curving into a gentle central notch, while the lower shell tapers to a fine point. Shaped by hand, the shells retain traces of their making, from subtly thickened rims to surfaces that ripple gently beneath the glaze. Up close, the glossy white enamel reveals a fine network of crazing and scattered pinholes, while the warmer clay peeks through at the edges, ensuring that no two sconces are quite alike.

This sensitivity to material is central to Laclaux, the studio of École Camondo alumni Chloé Nègre and François-Xavier Fonbonnat. Their practice centres on artisanal techniques and pieces designed to last. Hung in pairs on either side of an overmantel mirror, the sconces bring a quiet sculptural presence to a period salon.
