Laclaux is the Paris studio of Chloé Nègre and François-Xavier Fonbonnat, built on a single conviction: that ecological, artisanal design can be as refined as it is honest. Every piece leaves their workshop having passed through the hands of French cabinetmakers and weavers who favour raw, living materials over anything synthetic or overworked.
The Sweet Pea Mirror designed by Laclaux is a quiet study in French savoir-faire, born from the ecological, artisan-first philosophy that Chloé Nègre and François-Xavier Fonbonnat have built their Paris studio around. Its rounded, botanical silhouette recalls the curling tendril of a sweet pea flower, framing the reflection in a soft organic outline rather than a hard architectural edge.
Hand-woven in natural rattan by artisans who shape each strand while it is still supple, the mirror wears the faint irregularities of handwork as a mark of authenticity rather than a flaw. Laclaux leaves the rattan unpeeled and untreated, letting its warm straw-gold tone deepen naturally with light and time, so no two Sweet Pea Mirrors ever read quite the same.
Laclaux embodies the vision, skills, and sensitivity of Chloé Nègre and François-Xavier Fonbonnat. Both alumni of the École Camondo, they built their careers on separate paths: François-Xavier working at some of France’s leading design agencies, while Chloé founded her eponymous studio. By merging their longstanding experience and sharing a deep passion for craftsmanship and responsible design, they create new collections of furniture pieces inspired by their distinctive perspectives, where creativity and environmental consciousness are the cornerstones. The collection opens its doors to the transmission of knowledge, craftsmanship, ecology, sharing, and transparency, with a mission to bring excellence to furniture making.
