Bec Brittain is an American lighting designer who served as design director of Lindsey Adelman Studio before founding her own New York lighting brand, known for pendants like Vise and Skyhooks.

The Heron Black Table Lamp was designed by Bec Brittain, the American lighting designer behind Lindsey Adelman Studio’s early success and her own acclaimed New York brand, for the Carrara marble house Mmairo. Brittain’s study of weights and proportions was never meant as a pure sculptural exercise, but rather an attempt to make marble her own, an everyday material rather than a precious one reserved for special occasions.

Available in Nero Portoro, Nero Marquina or Bianco Michelangelo marble, with bespoke dimensions, finishes and colors upon request, Heron glides over a desk or table in an elongated, slightly angular shape that recalls the bird it draws its name and its dark plumage from. Lit from within, the lamp lets its inner light pass through the marble’s translucent edges, so that, as Brittain describes it, Heron sees with the eyes of the soul, through the intimate glow of stone.
