Every Profile By piece unites a hand-crafted sculpture, in materials ranging from ceramic and bronze to chestnut wood and mirrored metal, with a fragrance composed specifically for that artist’s world, so that seeing and smelling the object become a single, inseparable act of storytelling, each edition strictly limited and signed.
Rocking Me by Profile By is not just a scented object. It is artist Pablo Reinoso’s poetic take on the artistic détournement he is known for, a piece designed so that the original fragrance can circulate freely in and out of the sculpture, constantly diffusing his scented signature with a single movement of the hand.
Handmade in chestnut wood by skilled artisans, each of the 8 signed and numbered pieces is unique by nature of its assembly. The fragrance, composed by perfumer Domitille Michalon-Bertier and described as ‘luminous wood’, combines zesty freshness with woody warmth, a scent designed to awaken the moment the sculpture is set in motion.
Diane Thalheimer, a well-known perfumer, set herself apart in the early 2000s by inventing her new profession: Olfactive Profiler. Looking for something that made sense, she started to work on understanding and decoding the vision of a brand or of a personality and translating those traits into original scents. Whilst collaborating with many leading companies, in 2021, Diane launched Profile By, a personal project bringing together artists and perfumers on a special collaboration about olfactive sculptures. The first collection comprises 6 pieces: perfume becomes the extension of an artwork. Or is it the artwork that becomes a visual and olfactory experience?
