Launched in 2006 and hosted by Villa Noailles, Design Parade has become a must-attend event, dubbed by some as “the Cannes of Interior Design.” Serving as a platform for discovering new talents, the event is punctuated by two competitions: design and interior design, each with its own jury and president. Additionally, Design Parade is a showcase for fantastic exhibitions and installations where star designers display their unbridled creativity.
This year, all eyes are on “La Chambre 100,” the fantastic installation staged by Marc-Antoine Biehler and Amaury Graveleine x Lesage Intérieurs, to celebrate 100 years of Maison Lesage. La Chambre 100 combines the diverse skills of Maison Lesage in fashion and furnishing embroidery and weaving. Inspired by Villa Noailles, India, Provence, and the Métiers d’art (the specialty creators housed at Chanel’s le19M) this immersive installation guides visitors through a partially embroidered hotel room, reminiscent of Indian guest houses. It invites guests to discover and appreciate the intricate details that define the overall design.
The furniture selection is a sophisticated mix of contemporary pieces and a few vintage items, creating a dialogue between Indian and French design. Embroidered elements such as the sofa, which nods to the charpoi, fans, and headboard play a significant role in the space, while other subtle details humorously reinterpret traditional hotel decor. The rigid look of metal contrasts with more delicate materials like embroidered fabrics, tweed, ceramics, and unexpected elements such as colored resin or basil wood beads. The design duo has crafted a coherent and inspiring environment, inviting visitors to envision embroidery in their own interiors.
Produced by our partners at le19M, this immersive installation unveils the various savoir-faire of Maison Lesage, specifically weaving and embroidery applied to fashion and furnishings. This artistry, elevated to the status of art, unfolds across three spaces, featuring a tweed-covered sofa signed by the design-duo, an incredible embroidered eye by Pierre Yovanovitch atop a seat, and a collection of precious accessories, such as a stunning mirror embroidered with raffia, beads, and thread, and a towel embroidered with tiny ants. This masterful work harmonizes with a curated selection of vintage and contemporary furniture.
