Having spent several years in Brazil, Jean-Pierre worked with many contemporary artists creating original sets and scenographies for their live performances. In 2019 he founded Atelier Tortil, his high-end disruptive lifestyle brand of bespoke furnishings and rugs.
Signature Style
Inspired by Brazilian mid-century aesthetic and Art Déco sophistication, Jean-Pierre Tortil creates a new kind of designs. Precious woods and bold metals are carved, molded and shaped into powerful designs softened by sensual textures. The simple lines enhanced by clever details lend the pieces an alluring, luxurious quality. By working with a team of highly-skilled designers and craftsmen, the brand delivers beautifully handmade designs with laser-focus attention to detail. Tortil’s long experience with the iconic rug manufacturer Cogolin inspired him to develop a collection of bespoke rugs, handmade in France.
