Background

A graduate from the renowned Camondo School in Paris, Charlotte Biltgen is an architect who has set her heart on interior design. Her first job at Sylvain Dubuisson Studio in 1998, led her to meet color-wiz India Mahdavi: she soon joined her agency where she was appointed artistic director in 2009. There she worked on a wide range of projects: architectural refurbishment, interior decoration, exhibition scenography, furniture design, home accessories and jewelry. In 2014, eager for a new challenge, she opened her own studio in Paris.

Signature style

Aiming at reviving the great French tradition of “ensemblier”, Charlotte Biltgen’s designs always resonate with the context of a given space: whether a restaurant, a hotel or a residential space, she invents a specific tailor-made atmosphere, thus continuously renewing her creative approach and signature. With her strong Parisian chic rooted in her creative DNA, and her scholarly culture about materials, she can embrace decoration and details in one same thought, designing furniture and objects first in her mind, picturing an atmosphere before it actually exists, and then making it real with a gentle yet painstaking concern for the perfect finish. “I start each new project with a fresh eye, establishing a vibrating connection between the designs and the place they are meant for, always staying true to my creative process. I imagine a story and create an exceptional, sophisticated yet moving atmosphere, which is never staged, but real”.
