Background
Diane Thalheimer, a well-known perfumer, set herself apart in the early 2000s by inventing her new profession: Olfactive Profiler. Looking for something that made sense, she started to work on understanding and decoding the vision of a brand or of a personality and translating those traits into original scents. Whilst collaborating with many leading companies, in 2021, Diane launched Profile By, a personal project bringing together artists and perfumers on a special collaboration about olfactive sculptures. The first collection comprises six pieces: perfume becomes the extension of an artwork. Or is it the artwork that becomes a visual and olfactory experience?
Signature Style
Stimulating the sense of smell through works of art. Diane Thalheimer works as a researcher but also as a confidante; she asks the artists to express their innermost feelings and sensations that she then translates into a fragrance. With Profile By she widens the scope of this process by including artists and perfumers for a collaborative collection where visual and olfactory stimuli merge.
Showstoppers
A first collection of six olfactive sculptures available in a limited edition. Six internationally acclaimed contemporary artists worked with six renowned perfumers. Each piece reveals the artist’s emotions and delivers the scent of personal memories and most secret thoughts. Among the highlights are “Le Coeur de Dionysos” a poetic sculpture by Hubert Le Gall and scented by Jean-Christophe Hérault, and the fascinating “Noli Me Tangere” by award winning Adel Abdessemed in collaboration with perfumer Paul Guerlain. The pieces were first introduced to art collectors in an exhibition at Phillips.
