The Jacques Doucet Legacy Brand lives on through a new collection of furniture unveiled at Invisible Collection New York. Discover these exclusive designs that merge historical reverence with a modern twist, available only in our galleries and on our platform.

No need to introduce Jacques Doucet. His name alone conjures a world of culture and aesthetic influence, celebrated in museums across the globe and revered by the likes of Saint Laurent and Lagerfeld. Now, his legendary taste is being channeled through an exclusive furniture collection that reintroduces his unique aesthetic in the form of exquisite designs that merge historical reverence with a modern twist. Designed by Garcé & Dimofski, the collection encapsulates Doucet’s love for refined craftsmanship and timeless elegance. Beautifully staged in our New York Gallery, each piece evokes an aspect of Doucet’s life, taste, or friendships, from his luxurious salons on Rue Spontini to his avant-garde residence at Studio Saint James in Neuilly. It is not only a homage but also an invitation to explore Doucet’s universe, embodying what Garcé & Dimofski describe as “the beginning of a long conversation with Doucet.”

Named after Doucet’s first residence, a grand hôtel particulier on Rue Spontini in Paris, the Spontini Sofa and Armchair honor Doucet’s legacy in the most elegant of forms. These pieces blend tradition with contemporary touches, offering generously inviting lines that harmonize classic design with modern sophistication. Handcrafted in premier ateliers, the Spontini Sofa and Armchair reflect the aura of Doucet’s legendary salons, where the worlds of art, culture, and society gracefully intersected. These pieces exude an unmistakable Parisian chic, merging comfort with the timeless elegance that the couturier championed throughout his life. Inspired by Doucet’s apartments in Neuilly, the Avenue du Bois Sofa and Armchair embody the bold, modern spirit of Art Deco, capturing Doucet’s love for the avant-garde. Their rounded forms, meticulously crafted by skilled artisans, honor tradition while presenting a forward-thinking take on comfort and durability. Conceived to be cherished and passed down through generations, the Avenue du Bois seating would surely have appealed to Doucet, who famously combined classic and contemporary styles to redefine elegance. In each curve and line, one finds the essence of his vision: a meeting of art and function.

Named after Doucet’s close friend and renowned actress Gabrielle Réjane, the Réjane Ottoman embodies the warmth and versatility Doucet valued in design. Whether placed at the foot of a chair or in a grand entryway, the ottoman is a perfect example of the beauty and utility that underpin the Jacques Doucet legacy. The Madame R Daybed is designed for quiet moments and intimate spaces. Crafted with delicate, hand-sculpted lines and a sophisticated chestnut base, this piece radiates understated luxury, a hallmark of Doucet’s aesthetic. In a unique collaboration with Maison Lemarié, the Saint James x Lemarié Chair marries couture with interior design, bringing a sartorial touch to the collection. Named after Doucet’s last residence, Studio Saint James, the chair is an art piece in its own right, featuring Lemarié’s intricate embroidery on the backrest—a nod to the couture motifs in Doucet’s archives. The Saint James x Lemarié Chair is the ultimate expression of sophistication, where furniture and fashion meet, creating a timelessly chic piece that embodies Doucet’s flair for blending disciplines. The collector’s passion for books and rare manuscripts is reflected in the Rose Stool, named after Rose Adler, the legendary bookbinder who worked closely with Doucet. Compact and versatile, this stool combines a hand-sculpted chestnut base with a plush upholstered seat. Elegant yet practical, it embodies Doucet’s belief that beautiful design should enhance everyday life.

Beyond seating, the Apollinaire Coffee Table stands out as a piece that marries Doucet’s literary passions with a contemporary edge. Named after Guillaume Apollinaire, the forefather of Surrealism and a friend of Doucet, the table combines chestnut wood with a bespoke ceramic top, a fusion that Garcé & Dimofski refer to as “poetry made design.” Similarly, the Gray Coffee Table captures the collaborative spirit of Doucet’s friendship with Eileen Gray. The solid chestnut table, accented with subtly tinted ceramic legs, exudes understated elegance and craftsmanship, paying homage to the couturier’s appreciation for fine artistry.

Jacques Doucet

Few men have left such an indelible mark on the imaginations of art patrons and aesthetes. Jacques Doucet was the archetype of the modern collector, with a love of culture as vast as his curiosity and flair for the new. As a couturier, he mentored Paul Poiret and Madeleine Vionnet while dressing celebrities and heiresses. As a collector, he amassed the most legendary trove of rarities and masterpieces from the 18th century to the avant-garde, including Picasso, Klee, Matisse, and de Chirico, while commissioning furniture from Eileen Gray and Pierre Legrain, who decorated his last home, the fabled Studio Saint James. Now, his legacy lives on through a furniture collection available exclusively through Invisible Collection.
