Seating by Haymann Editions

Stories Editor's Pick Seating by Haymann Editions

When it comes to seating, it’s all about finding the right balance between comfort and aesthetic. The designs must seamlessly integrate the space and beautify the décor.

We all know it’s hard to find the perfect piece, whether it’s the right chairs for your dining table or the visually appealing sofa to anchor the living room. We selected an array of great seating elements produced by the French brand Haymann Editions, which carry comfort and understated sophistication.

Lebanese-born Charles Kalpakian designed the Franck and Max series. Drawing from traditional shapes he injects a touch of geometrical modernity into the structure made of solid pine. The Max armchairs and sofas feature specifically designed wider armrests that lend the frames a sculptural quality. As for the Franck series, Kalpakian changed the rules by making the backrest cushion cut into the seat cushion thus creating an interesting visual effect. And to make it even more interesting, the backrest cushion can be ordered in a contrasting colour for a more graphic effect.

The collaboration between Toni Grilo and Haymann delivered the alluring Dartagnan collection of chairs and stools.  A tour de force of well-balanced curves and proportions, these pieces embody good design made simple. Extremely comfortable and elegant they are the perfect fit for a contemporary dining room. Made of solid ash, the Dartagnan feature saddle leather seats available in four different colours.

Haymann Editions

After working for many years in IT and retail, David Haymann switched to his secret passion: design. In 2012 he launched Haymann Editions, with the purpose of becoming an “éditeur de mobilier”, a very French notion of commissioning from a designer a collection of original furniture pieces and manufacture them. The first collection designed by Toni Grilo, a Brazilian designer based in Portugal, became an instant success. Since then, Haymann Editions has developed several new collaborations with an eclectic roaster of up and coming designers including the duo Dan Yeffet and Lucie Koldova, the Lebanese design studio David & Nicolas, Sebastien Herkner, and Charles Kalpakian.
