David Haymann founded his Paris house on the belief that furniture deserved the same editorial rigor as a publishing house. Rather than design collections himself, he invites architects and designers — from Toni Grilo to Charles Kalpakian, from David & Nicolas to Dan Yeffet and Lucie Koldová — to give shape to his vision of simple, coherent forms built from noble materials.
In a warm Brick-toned Joseph fabric from Bisson Bruneel, this Victor ottoman carries the same retro spirit David Haymann built into his own design, the steel frame piercing through the upholstery in a nod to the exposed metalwork common in 1970s furniture. Available in brushed stainless steel or a black coated finish, it pairs naturally with the Victor chair for a matching, tension-filled set.
After working for many years in IT and retail, David Haymann switched to his secret passion: design. In 2012 he launched Haymann Editions, with the purpose of becoming an “éditeur de mobilier”, a very French notion of commissioning from a designer a collection of original furniture pieces and manufacture them. The first collection designed by Toni Grilo, a Brazilian designer based in Portugal, became an instant success. Since then, Haymann Editions has developed several new collaborations with an eclectic roaster of up and coming designers including the duo Dan Yeffet and Lucie Koldova, the Lebanese design studio David & Nicolas, Sebastien Herkner, and Charles Kalpakian.
