Haymann Editions revives the French tradition of the “éditeur de mobilier”: a Paris house that does not design its own furniture, instead commissioning outside talents — among them Toni Grilo, Charles Kalpakian and the duo David & Nicolas — to create collections it then produces to exacting standards in noble materials, from Carrara marble to solid ash and hand-cut leather.
Victor is, as far as anyone at the house can tell, the first and possibly only piece David Haymann has designed entirely himself, a steel-framed ottoman that channels the spirit of 1970s French design and the era’s love of exposed metal. Shown here upholstered in a discontinued Regent fabric from Yarn Collective in a mossy Khaki tone, its steel structure visibly pierces the upholstery and gives slightly underfoot, so you feel the frame’s tension the moment you sit.
