Ozone

Stories News Ozone

The inventive French lighting-design company joins the Invisible Collection.

Etienne Gounot and Eric Jahnke, both industrial engineers, met at 25, whilst working in an office. Maybe they did not like the lighting, or the office hours… Or maybe, they were just meant to do something great, in a different field. Both passionate about design they started creating lighting fixtures from Etienne’s apartment, and in 2000 they founded Ozone.

Now Ozone is worldwide known for its outstanding, dramatic designs and has become the go-to place for major architects in the likes of Joseph Dirand, Alberto Pinto, Jean-Michel Wilmotte, to name but a few. These collaborations have become an important feature in Ozone’s catalogue, which includes limited series and some notable reissues.

Combining technology and architecture, Gounot and Jahnke masterfully merge the Parisian tradition of craftsmanship with the latest LED light technologies. The clean lines of their designs conjure timeless geometries – cubes, tubes and circles – that encompass most styles, from classic to edgy. The assemblage details, metal finishes and lighting performance of each piece are of the highest level.

The duo’s designs draw from many inspirations, from Japanese minimalism to Bauhaus rigorism. Their idea (obsession?) is to be as close as possible to natural light whilst creating very striking, eye-catching pieces. Always on the lookout for the latest technologies, Gounot and Jahnke never stop experimenting with new materials bringing lighting fixture to a new, fascinating level.

We handpicked several pieces that best represent the brand’s innovative spirit as well as its chic touch. All light fixtures are manufactured and assembled in Ozone’s workshop located in the heart of Paris. Besides the original designs, we selected some emblematic pieces from their several collaborations, including the Tennesse collection by Glenn Sestig, the Phénix, Gélule and Diamant collections by Joseph Dirand, and a reissue by Pierre Paulin, the famous chandelier M101 designed in 1964.

Discover now Ozone’s beautiful lamps and light fixtures available on The Invisible Collection.
