The Calanque Coffee Table designed by Charles Zana carries the weight of a career built on scholarship as much as instinct. Zana has spent decades studying the Italian design masters Ettore Sottsass and Carlo Scarpa alongside the discipline of French classicism, a dual heritage that runs through every piece he draws.
Pictured here in a dark bronze patina, and also available in a shiny gold finish, this coffee table takes its name from the rocky Mediterranean inlets of southern France, its solid, sculptural mass echoing stone worn smooth by the sea. The bronze surface deepens with age rather than wearing out, much like the travertine and solid oak Zana favoured in his very first Mobilier collection.
More than an architect and interior decorator, Charles Zana, is a curator of unique interiors, filled with stories and meaning, warm and reflective of the lives of those who happily live in it: emotions are an architectural element in Zana’s world.
