Emmanuelle Simon is a French designer whose training under two of France’s most respected names in design, Jean-Marie Massaud and Pierre Yovanovitch, shaped a sensibility equally at ease with precise industrial form and intimate, livable comfort.

The Jonathan Bookcase designed by Emmanuelle Simon is not just a place to store books. It is a modular architecture of memory, built to grow and shift with the life around it, reflecting Simon’s belief that furniture should adapt to how we actually live rather than dictate it. Its rhythm of open and closed volumes turns everyday objects into a considered still life, blurring the line between shelving and sculpture.

Crafted in blackened assamela wood tempered with dark metal accents, the bookcase reveals its most poetic gesture in the raku-fired ceramic door panel, a Japanese technique that leaves each surface marked by fire, cracking and unrepeatable variation. This handcrafted door becomes the collection’s single note of imperfection, grounding the piece’s precise geometry in something organic, weathered and quietly alive.
