FAM, near Porto, takes its mission from its name — Feito à Mão, ‘handmade’ — glazing every piece of stoneware in-house, in bold colour and organic, hand-thrown forms.
Named for the Portuguese word for mushrooms, the Cogumelos table lamp is glazed in stoneware, shown here in pink, also available in red or white.
FAM is the Portuguese abbreviation for “Feito à Mão,” which means “Handmade”—a reference to the time and meticulous care invested in the creation of each piece. The intention of its founder, Ligia Guedes, is to promote Portuguese craftsmanship in a modern and contemporary way, adopting a more experimental and spontaneous approach that creates a confluence between craftsmanship, art, and design. Today, the studio operates as a collective of interior designers, graphic designers, photographers, artists, and, of course, artisans.
