Cedar sanded to a honey-toned glow, marble-stucco finishes, unpeeled rattan and hand-plaited straw run through the whole collection, named after plants and landscapes — Cyprès, Ortie — that root the studio’s rustic-refined language in nature itself. Exclusive to The Invisible Collection, Laclaux treats imperfection as proof of the hand behind the object.
The Baci Chair Baya designed by Laclaux takes its name from the Baya finish, a smoked stain that Chloé Nègre and François-Xavier Fonbonnat developed to give FSC-certified ash the same warm, sun-worn character as their signature cedar. The frame is left with visible grain, a deliberate choice that keeps the wood feeling alive rather than lacquered into anonymity.
The seat is upholstered in Selma fabric by Manuel Canovas in camel, with the backrest in Tempe silk by Larsen in a vivid saffron, a colour pairing the studio also offers in a quieter single-tone Pomme version. Bespoke fabrics, dimensions and finishes are available on request, extending the chair’s warm palette to fit any interior.
Laclaux embodies the vision, skills, and sensitivity of Chloé Nègre and François-Xavier Fonbonnat. Both alumni of the École Camondo, they built their careers on separate paths: François-Xavier working at some of France’s leading design agencies, while Chloé founded her eponymous studio. By merging their longstanding experience and sharing a deep passion for craftsmanship and responsible design, they create new collections of furniture pieces inspired by their distinctive perspectives, where creativity and environmental consciousness are the cornerstones. The collection opens its doors to the transmission of knowledge, craftsmanship, ecology, sharing, and transparency, with a mission to bring excellence to furniture making.
