The ceramic pedestal tables by Alice Gavalet are entirely handmade in her studio located in Nogent-sur-Marne. These creations embody her distinctive approach, a subtle blend of art, design, and craftsmanship. Each piece is shaped using coils of chamotte grogged clay. Alice Gavalet adds a faux tartan tablecloth motif, a design she particularly favors, reflecting her strong affinity for the interplay of colors and patterns. For glazing, she employs a painterly technique: layering slips, glazes, and oxides to create subtle transparencies and refined visual effects. As part of a collaboration with the Mobilier National, Alice Gavalet developed a range of colours inspired by the shades of blue in the French tricolour flag. The classic silhouette of the pedestal tables was designed to integrate seamlessly into exceptional settings.
Each pedestal table, like all her ceramic creations, is unique. The artisanal production process ensures that every piece is one of a kind, making each table a truly singular work of art.
Alice Gavalet has been represented in France by Galerie Italienne since 2022, with an inaugural solo exhibition bearing her name marking the start of this collaboration. Her works were also shown in several group shows as well as at art and design fairs. An upcoming solo exhibition by the artist will take place in September 2025 at the gallery’s new space, located at 75 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, 75008 Paris.
