The son of a sculptor, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance’s approach to design has never strayed far from the chisel and the block. Founder of the Paris studio Neonata, he builds a body of work that moves fluidly between furniture, sculpture and architecture for houses such as Hermès, Baccarat and Saint-Louis, now working from Lisbon chiefly in sculpted and assembled marble, producing pieces in small, tightly numbered editions that read as much as artworks as they do furniture.

The Collar side table is cast in brown patinated bronze, finished smooth on its inner faces and left deliberately rough on the outer surface — a contrast that turns a single material into two distinct sensory experiences. Its full and hollow cast-bronze elements can be combined and reoriented to build a horizontal surface, so the piece exists somewhere between a table and an abstract sculptural study. Each casting bears the slight irregularities of hand-finished bronze, making the rough exterior genuinely one-of-a-kind.
