xThe Séléné collection was conceived by Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye, a great Turkish-Danish ceramic figure. Fruit of a dialogue between the artist and the artisans of Puiforcat, the bowls and vases in sterling silver that make up the collection have the same round and hemispherical shapes as those she has been working on for sixty years on her potter’s wheel. Resting on a small, almost invisible foot, they give the impression of floating, from wherever you look, just a few millimetres away from their support. Available in three formats, the objects of the Séléné collection do not have a specific function or utility according to their creator’s wishes. The multiplicity of uses, that’s what Alev advocates. Each creation is signed and stamped with the Puiforcat master’s punch.
Puiforcat’s signature style is rooted in the classical and Art Deco movements. Louis Victor Tabouret, who joined the family business in the late 19th century, drew inspiration from 16th and 17th-century royal silversmiths, enhancing the brand’s repertoire with elegant silver hollowware. In the mid-20th century, Jean Puiforcat revolutionized silverwork with his Art Deco designs, characterized by architectural lines and functional elegance, eschewing unnecessary ornamentation. This avant-garde approach continues to define Puiforcat’s aesthetic. Today, Puiforcat is celebrated for its blend of tradition and creativity, crafting the timeless classics of tomorrow while paying homage to its storied past.
