Mmairo is a marble atelier based in Carrara, its name drawn from the ancient Greek marmairo, meaning ‘to shine.’
Arthur Arbesser, a designer who moves fluidly between art, architecture and fashion, brings that cross-disciplinary eye to the Aldo Bowl for Mmairo, the Carrara marble atelier whose name springs from the ancient Greek marmairo, meaning to shine. Arbesser understands marble the way a couturier understands fabric, breaking it apart and reassembling it, drawn to its underlying strength as much as to the brilliance of its color.
The Aldo Bowl can be crafted in a striking range of stones, from the near-black Nero Marquinia and luminous Bianco Michelangelo to the deep red Rosso Levanto, the fiery veining of Arabescato Vagli Filo Rosso, the green depths of Verde Guatemala and the electric blue of Blu Sodalite, each option changing the bowl’s character entirely. Bespoke dimensions and finishes are available on request, with every piece carved and finished within Mmairo’s own Tuscan workshops.
