Working exclusively in Carrara’s Bianco Carrara marble, Studioformart pairs rigorous, rational geometry with the material’s natural luminosity, treating the stone as the starting point for objects rather than the finishing touch to a shape already decided.

Square Piano is the flat dinner plate at the center of Studioformart’s Square service for Mmairo, the piece that most plainly states the studio’s decision to abandon soft, linear shapes in favor of a rational and perfectly functional dining set. Alongside the Fondo soup plate and Piccolo dessert plate, Piano completes a trio in which every proportion was worked out first as a square, then softened only enough for the marble to feel comfortable in the hand.

Cut from White Bianco Carrara marble and given a smooth, hand-polished finish, Square Piano relies on the stone’s own purity rather than applied pattern, letting faint natural veining move quietly across its flat, even surface. As with the rest of the Square set, each plate is extracted and finished within Mmairo’s own Carrara workshops, so the honest, durable character of the marble carries through from quarry to table exactly as Studioformart intended.
