Osanna Visconti trained first as a jeweller, studying at the Academy of Jewels in Rome and the GIA in New York before turning her precision for small, precious forms toward sculptural bronze. Milan-based today, she works almost exclusively in lost-wax casting, the millennia-old cera persa technique, treating each cast the way a jeweller treats a stone: as inherently unique.
The Bronze Bowl designed by Osanna Visconti carries the same instinct for precious, self-contained form that first shaped her career as a jeweller in Rome, long before she turned to sculpture. Trained at the Academy of Jewels and later the GIA in New York, she approaches a simple vessel with the same discipline she once brought to a ring or a pendant, letting the material itself dictate the final shape.
Produced entirely with the lost-wax technique in natural bronze, the Bronze Bowl is cast from a hand-sculpted wax model that is destroyed in the casting process, meaning each bowl exists as a genuine one-off rather than an edition. Bespoke dimensions and finishes are available on request.
During her childhood in Rome, Osanna and her sister would play with pieces of art created for their mother by Lucio Fontana, Mario Ceroli and Arnaldo Pomodoro. One could say that the pieces she creates today, are inspired by those wonderful memories, or maybe, they are a result of her own femininity… or maybe both. “I made jewellery for a few years, but then I decided to make jewels for the home, with the same technique but on a larger scale”. In recent years, Osanna’s attention has increasingly focused on objects and furnishings. Made by the best artisans, every creation is modelled by hand from wax, which is then fused in an art foundry. “I would define myself as an artisan because I love crafting things, and I would also define myself as being somewhat of a designer. I really like being in the foundry where the wax models are made, spending my days modelling with my hands.”
