Osanna Visconti

Bronze Paper Cut

Osanna Visconti models every form directly in wax, working by hand before the piece is cast at an Italian art foundry using the lost wax process — a technique that allows no two examples to be identical. Here, the illusion is of paper folded and torn, its creases and ragged edges rendered permanently in bronze and 925 sterling silver, the softness of one material captured convincingly in the hardness of another. Visconti trained first in jewellery, then scaled her technique up to furnishings, carrying over a goldsmith’s attention to surface and edge. Raised among works by Lucio Fontana and Arnaldo Pomodoro, she brings a sculptor’s instinct for gesture to a small object. Placed on a console or shelf, it reads as a fragment caught mid-movement, holding its own against larger pieces without competing with them.
