Woven Cushion Kumo Cloud Sand

Add to Wishlist

Kumo, meaning cloud in Japanese, traces an open hexagonal trellis across the cover, its lines climbing between softly drifting cloud forms that echo the stitched rhythm of sashiko embroidery. Woven rather than printed, the pattern is built into a fine blend of cotton, silk and linen, a combination that catches light unevenly across its surface and gives the motif a quiet shimmer rather than a flat repeat. Jennifer Shorto developed the design out of years spent collecting and studying antique textiles, from suzani embroidery and kimono silks to West African strip-weaves, a practice she sharpened studying art history at L’Ecole du Louvre. That instinct for translating historic pattern into something usable today defines Kumo, restrained enough for upholstery or scatter cushions in a considered, tonal interior, yet textured enough to hold its own against plain grounds.
