Pair of Salt Shaker Cushions

Add to Wishlist

Part of Jennifer Shorto’s African collection, this design translates the graphic economy of hand-carved wooden salt shakers into textile form, reducing a familiar domestic object to pattern and silhouette. The cover is woven in a Panama weave, a plain weave using doubled yarns that gives the linen and cotton blend its characteristic basket-like texture and structural weight, well suited to a motif built on repetition and block form. Shorto’s approach, shaped by years spent studying and reproducing antique textiles before founding her own atelier, favours this kind of translation: taking a vernacular object or pattern and re-scaling it for upholstery and soft furnishings without losing its handmade logic. Sold as a pair with an unprinted reverse, it holds its own on a sofa or daybed within an interior built around craft-led, worldly references.
