Studioformart is a marble atelier in Carrara founded by brothers Andrea and Simone Dell’Amico, a reference point for marble craftsmanship in the city.

The Square Fondo Plate marks a deliberate turn for Studioformart, the Carrara marble atelier behind Mmairo’s collaboration, away from the soft, curving lines of pieces like Curvati toward a rational, perfectly functional dining set. Conceived as the soup plate within the Square service, alongside dinner and dessert plates, Fondo is what its makers call a declaration of intent, proof that a rigorously square, even shape can be every bit as honest and expressive as a fluid one.

Made from White Bianco Carrara marble with a smooth finish, the Square Fondo Plate uses the depth of its rimmed silhouette to hold soups and broths while keeping the tabletop composition of the Square set visually coherent. Produced under Mmairo’s in-house model, which controls extraction and manufacture from the same Carrara quarries, the plate lets the purity and durability of solid marble stand in for ornament, its subtly veined surface changing gently from piece to piece.
