Working exclusively in Carrara’s Bianco Carrara marble, Studioformart pairs rigorous, rational geometry with the material’s natural luminosity, treating the stone as the starting point for objects rather than the finishing touch to a shape already decided.
The Tavoletta Tray imagines marble levitating, as Studioformart describes it, flying up to the clouds light as a feather in a perfect chromatic match, an idea the Carrara studio translates into a placemat-like serving tray designed to complete the Square dinnerware set for Mmairo. It is a deliberately playful counterpoint to the rational geometry of the Square plates, reminding that even the most solid, ancient of materials can carry a sense of lightness.
Worked from White Bianco Carrara marble to a slim, smooth-finished profile, the Tavoletta Tray is thin enough to read as contemporary and informal on the table, yet remains a solid slab shaped and polished within Mmairo’s own Carrara ateliers. Studioformart’s belief that imagination can only take flight from a solid foundation is made literal here: the tray’s airy silhouette rests entirely on the honest weight and veining of natural stone.
