Memory Bowl

Cristoforo Trapani is the Michelin-starred chef who led the kitchen at La Magnolia, the restaurant of the Hotel Byron in Forte dei Marmi, before turning his instinct for materials and ritual toward tableware for the Carrara marble house Mmairo.

The Memory Bowl was designed by Cristoforo Trapani, the Michelin-starred chef behind La Magnolia at the Hotel Byron in Forte dei Marmi, bringing a cook’s sensibility rather than a designer’s to the Carrara marble house Mmairo. Trapani conceived the bowl as an ancestral reminder, a symbol of the vital relationship between people and food, an idea shaped by years spent watching how a single vessel can hold an entire meal’s worth of ritual.

Carved from Nero Marquina marble with a smooth finish, the Memory Bowl moves easily from professional kitchens to the everyday table, as necessary for a soup as it is perfect for fruit salad or dried fruit. Made within Mmairo’s fully in-house Carrara production, the bowl’s dark, dense stone holds an even, cool surface that Trapani sees as essential to how food should be presented, quietly, without distraction.
