Her wallcoverings originated in Mexico, inspired by the country’s mural traditions, while her fabrics in silk, cotton and linen are woven in the United Kingdom and printed in France and Italy — a practice she describes as heritage craft meeting a life spent in motion.
The Set of Etoiles Green Napkins takes Jennifer Shorto’s recurring star motif into a lush green, a color that nods to the tropical landscapes of Brazil where she spent part of her childhood before eventually founding her London studio in 2013.
Crafted from 100% natural linen, the napkins offer the same considered hand as the rest of Shorto’s table linen collections, woven in the UK with an attention to texture that makes each piece feel more like a small textile artifact than a disposable accessory. The green stars scatter unevenly across the linen, echoing the organic irregularity found in her antique textile archive.
Jennifer Shorto began her career as a collector and connoisseur, buying and selling antique textiles and collaborating with artisans to reproduce her favorite pieces. Studying History of Art at L’Ecole du Louvre ignited her passion for artisanship, and set the foundation of her investigative skills to source exceptional materials and work with the very best.
