Each placemat and napkin still passes through the hands of embroiderers trained in techniques more commonly reserved for fashion’s finest gowns, worked on fine Belgian linen rather than silk, so that a set for the table carries something of the discipline of haute couture into everyday life.
The Little Mermaid Placemat & Napkin set brings a storybook motif to the table, hand embroidered on 100% Belgian linen by the ateliers of Vis-À-Vis Paris using the same fine needlework the maison built its name on since 1989. Delicate colour shading gives the mermaid’s form and flowing hair a gentle dimensionality, a playful counterpoint to the maison’s more classical botanical designs, and one that can be reworked in bespoke colours to order.
