Behind the Tina Wall Light stands Sarah Chirazi, a Franco-Senegalese designer whose work reads like a multi-act scenography, drawing on the Art Deco furniture of her Dakar childhood, inherited Senegalese craft, and a wink of humor that surfaces in even her most classical forms.
The Tina wall light blends the classicism of a 1930s-40s plaster form with gilded bronze figs applied across its surface, or, in its plainer version, plaster alone left to speak for itself. The fruit motif is poetic rather than decorative for its own sake, an unexpected, almost surrealist detail that brings a touch of Sarah Chirazi’s vegetable-garden humor into an otherwise classical fixture.
An advocate of eclecticism, Sarah moves effortlessly from a Haussmannian apartment to a clay mountain retreat in Morocco, adding her whimsical touch while ensuring respect for the spirit of the place. In her interiors, conceived as multi-act scenographies, she weaves unexpected dialogues between the 1940s and Senegalese craftsmanship, the extravagance of her personality, and the timelessness of French classicism.
