Salone del Mobile: Osanna Visconti’s Milanese Addresses

Stories Interviews Salone del Mobile: Osanna Visconti’s Milanese Addresses

For all those who love design, but don’t mind a nice risotto and a bit of shopping in between showroom visits and appointments, here is a very personal guide to one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Milan, as seen through the eyes of one of its most ineffable citizens and an undisputed star of Invisible Collection.

Every city has its cradle of culture. In Milan, that honor falls to Le Cinque Vie — a labyrinth of cobbled streets a stone’s throw from the Duomo, where storied galleries and jewel-box boutiques beckon the curious. It’s here, amidst the quiet splendor, that Invisible Collection’s star designer Osanna Visconti makes her daily rounds. Discover her favorite addresses while visiting Salone del Mobile. One caveat, she warns us: “I feel a special connection to all of these addresses as they belong to some of my most cherished friends.”
“I love my neighborhood, Le Cinque Vie, for its atmosphere — the houses that overlook cobbled streets and hide courtyards full of charm and history. In the morning, I leave the house and have coffee at Marchesi on Via Santa Maria alla Porta 11/a. I cross the street and spend a happy hour browsing the wonderful coffee table books at Taschen on Via Meravigli 17, before popping next door to Aesop at Via Meravigli 18 to stock up on my favourite home fragrance. Mornings are made all the more special with a sought-after bouquet of flowers from Clori at Via Santa Maria alla Porta 5.
I find the most sophisticated fabrics, wallpaper, lamps, and interior design ideas at Arjumand’s World, created by my dear friend Idarica Gazzoni, on Via Santa Marta 11. When I’m in the mood for new clothes and accessories, I always stop by Wait and See by Uberta Zambeletti at Via Santa Marta 14.
Whenever I think of craftsmanship, I think of Laboratorio Paravicini, with their delicate hand-painted plates, at Via Nerino 8. For bronze jewellery, naturally, it could only be Madina (my darling daughter) on Via Santa Marta 13.
The most beautiful frescoes will forever be found in the Church of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore on Corso Magenta 15, and of course, Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper masterpiece can be found at the Museo del Cenacolo Vinciano in Piazza di Santa Maria delle Grazie 2.
For authentic traditional Milanese cuisine, I often find myself at Trattoria Milanese, Via Santa Marta 11. I then stroll among the greenery at the Orto Botanico on Via Fiori Oscuri 4.
It goes without saying that the most beautiful tablecloths are found at The Cabana Store, on Via Borgospesso 8, created by my dear friend Martina Mondadori. For high-quality canvases, brushes, and pencils, it’s Crespi Brera on Via Brera 28/A. And for the little ones, I always find the most imaginative toys at Fate i Capricci on Via Lanzone 7.”
We hope you’ll be able to enjoy these addresses. In the meantime, discover the unique designs by Osanna Visconti, available through us.

Osanna Visconti

During her childhood in Rome, Osanna and her sister would play with pieces of art created for their mother by Lucio Fontana, Mario Ceroli and Arnaldo Pomodoro. One could say that the pieces she creates today, are inspired by those wonderful memories, or maybe, they are a result of her own femininity… or maybe both. “I made jewellery for a few years, but then I decided to make jewels for the home, with the same technique but on a larger scale”.  In recent years, Osanna’s attention has increasingly focused on objects and furnishings. Made by the best artisans, every creation is modelled by hand from wax, which is then fused in an art foundry. “I would define myself as an artisan because I love crafting things, and I would also define myself as being somewhat of a designer. I really like being in the foundry where the wax models are made, spending my days modelling with my hands.”
