Background
The Sit Still Studio makes by hand a collection of collectable furniture pieces. The work is the combined vision and labour of partners Bethan Mitchell & Daniel John, who are guided by a shared commitment to craftsmanship and a desire to honour the art of rest. The collection is designed and made entirely in Wales in their small workshop and in close collaboration with a network of Welsh craftspeople, whose traditional techniques and deep material knowledge bring nuance and integrity to each object. They source local material, from local sheep’s wool to home grown Douglas fir, from across its counties in Wales.
Signature Style
Known for their sculptural sensibility and material honesty, each piece in their collection is an exploration of symbolism and an interpretation of archetypes; translated and distilled into poetic and tactile forms for modern interiors.

The Aphelion Mirror from the collection is inspired by the myth and matter of a familiar symbol, the comet. The word aphelion refers to the moment of greatest distance from the sun on a comets orbital journey. The simple shapes form a frame, curving and revolving to become a representation of an eternal return and a reminder of the paradoxical experience of life.
