Amande Haeghen

Coming from a family where creation rhymes with tradition, Amande Haeghen studied art history and then jumped in ceramic work with both feet. The countless sketches that filled her drawing books had to materialize: Her hands finally finding purpose working the clay with swift, precise gestures. Instinctively drawn to wall installations, she creates an array of styles mixing a variety of organic shapes that fit and embrace the walls like a second skin. Following the opening of her namesake Parisian studio in 2018, she opened an additional workshop in Lisbon in 2021.

Background

Coming from a family where creation rhymes with tradition, Amande Haeghen studied art history and then jumped in ceramic work with both feet. The countless sketches that filled her drawing books had to materialize: Her hands finally finding purpose working the clay with swift, precise gestures. Instinctively drawn to wall installations, she creates an array of styles mixing a variety of organic shapes that fit and embrace the walls like a second skin. Following the opening of her namesake Parisian studio in 2018, she opened an additional workshop in Lisbon in 2021.

Signature style

Balancing between design and sculpture, Amande’s lighting fixtures create atmospheres imbued with a distinctive softness.  Feminine and sensitive yet fiercely strong, her work is defined by bringing together the contrasting textures of rough stoneware, soft glass and timeless porcelain whilst playing with the notion of balance and giving shape to what is unseizable. One knows that her designs are inanimate objects, and yet, they seem to be alive and moving… Each of these unique pieces captures a fleeting moment: A veil blowing in  the wind, the reflection of a wave, the expansion of a glass bubble, the crackling of wood…

Showstoppers

The iconic  “Wandlamp” wall light sculptures embody all the strength and softness that Amande tries to inject into her work. The collection is defined by a variety of contrasting materials mixed in a sensual choreography of organic shapes. Catching the natural light by day and turning into animated objects that cast fascinating shadows at night, these wall lights create the most alluring atmospheres.
