Background
Having honed his trade studying fashion design at Studio Bercot, Florian Pretet became head of production for hand woven cashmere and silk at Hermès. Then, he met Lisa Mukhia, a keen entrepreneur with a strong love for fashion and a deep knowledge of traditional Himalayan artisanship. Now, Lisa and Florian are married and business partners, combining their different cultural and professional backgrounds. Inspired by their shared passion for art, fashion, craft and expertise, they founded Atelier Février aiming at creating meaningful stories pairing traditional know-how with cutting edge aesthetics. Lisa and Florian live between France and Nepal, busy creating the most fantastic hand-knotted rugs.
Signature Style
Striking one-off pieces made with the ancient Tibetan technique of hand-tied knots using a mixture of silk and wool or pure wool. The luxurious quality and feel of the rug are enhanced by its 190,000 knots per square meter. Tibetan wool is sought after for its high content of lanolin, which protects the rug over time, and allows it to age beautifully. The selected, finest silk from China is known for its brilliance and durability. Their signature patterns and motifs are beautifully detailed and enhanced by combining the most unexpected colour palettes.
Eco-friendly
Fair trade standards and environmentally friendly working methods are at the heart of Atelier Février’s approach and commitment to using 100% natural fibers and dyes in an eco-responsible work environment.
Showstoppers
The beautifully uncommon lines and motifs that define the rug’s overall shape, and lend a graphic quality to the space by redesigning the floor. The Invisible Collection has the pleasure of presenting a selection of one-of-a-kind rugs by Atelier Février, available for purchase through us.
