Atelier Février was born from the shared passion of French designer Florian Pretet and Nepali entrepreneur Lisa Mukhia Pretet, partners in life as in craft. Florian, who once designed cashmere and silk for the workshops of Hermès, draws every pattern by hand before it is scaled up and hand-knotted in Nepal by a workforce of more than fifty artisans, using techniques passed down through generations and no machines or chemicals whatsoever.

The Mille Points Rug Red joins Atelier Février’s rug library, presented here in a red colourway. Mille Points echoes the body markings that have adorned the Mbuti people of Africa for centuries, symbols of beauty celebrating one’s passage through life; the raised, contrasting dots seem immobile yet imply movement, shifting with space and perspective. Hand-knotted in Nepal from 60% wild Nepalese nettle (locally called allo) and 40% silk, at 100 knots per square inch (155,000 knots per square metre), the nettle fibre giving the pile an unusually crisp, papery hand against the silk’s soft sheen. As with every Atelier Février piece, no machines or chemicals ever touch the Mille Points Rug Red: colours are approved by sample before weaving begins, and the rug can be scaled, reshaped or recoloured to fit your own room.

Each rug is handcrafted by skilled artisans who master ancestral techniques such as hand knotting, weaving, and tufting. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight variations in size and colour, and the patterns may adjust proportionally when the rug is scaled to different sizes. Colours are subject to sample approval and colours shown may vary with lighting and environment.
