Galerie MCDE

MCDE Gallery is the reference for reissues of Pierre Chareau’s most iconic designs. Over the past forty years, the gallery founded by French art collector Maxime Defert has done an outstanding work by perpetuating the legacy of the great architect and designer. Defert, a great admirer of Chareau, thought it was his duty to reissue his work and bring to people’s homes the designs of “one of the most modern creators of the first half of the 20th century”. Now, Pierre-Emmanuel Risch and his wife Carole, continue to promote Pierre Chareau’s unique works – lighting fixtures and furnishings – by producing exquisite reissues in their workshops in France.

Signature Style

The 1930s marked the beginning of modernity and Pierre Chareau was modern through his ardent need for research and through his most beautiful creations, specifically the Maison de Verre. Chareau believed that furniture and lighting fixtures could sublimate a successful architectural project and went on creating some innovative, original designs that stand the test of time.

Showstoppers

Among the many reissues, we love the gorgeous lamps and wall lamps made with fine alabaster sheets, a material that is forever associated with Pierre Chareau.  Besides the exquisite aesthetic of the stone itself, the shape of each sheet and its assemblage have become a testament to the designer’s genius.
