Long before he built the Maison de Verre, his celebrated house of glass and steel, Pierre Chareau was already rethinking what furniture and lighting could do inside a room, and Cigare Armchair carries that same conviction. As an ensemblier rather than a mere decorator, he never designed objects in isolation, but as instruments meant to shape atmosphere, direct light and choreograph the way a space is actually lived in.

Its cylindrical, reclining silhouette earned the Cigare armchair its name, the satin-varnished walnut frame resting on ball-shaped legs in chrome-plated brass, or polished brass on request, and upholstered here in coconut-toned Blazer fabric from Dedar. The rounded, enveloping shape shows Chareau experimenting with comfort as much as geometry, decades before reclining lounge chairs became a design category of their own.
