His collection for Nordic Knots takes him back to the hand-painted furniture of his family home in Guatemala City, and to the childhood habit of sketching that never left him. The four rugs (Loops, Big Buds and All Hands among them) translate loose studio drawings into motifs that are at once ornate and organic: looping lines, swelling buds, a procession of naive hands running across a cut-out corner. Swedish rug-making is seen here through a Latin American lens, and the two folk traditions meet on shared ground, a deep, emotional love of colour. Fittingly, the collection was photographed in a 16th-century farmhouse in Hälsingland, whose painted murals answer the rugs’ own palette. Made by hand in soft New Zealand wool and produced in limited quantities, each piece reads less like a floor covering than a sketchbook page laid out underfoot.
